Racers and spectators from Mexico to Canada will gear up for the Texas Mile at Goliad's air park.

"We even have one participant who takes his leave to come from Iraq," said Shannon Matus co-founder of the Texas Mile which has become an annual event since October 2004.

The mile will have 221 participants from the everyday drivers to drivers of cars worth $100,000 Matus said.

"We've kept it for the everyday enthusiast and enjoy their passion for motor sports," Matus said.

Speed channel will also film their show, "Battle of the Super Cars" with host Tanner Foust, Matus said.

"It will be a 950 horse power Mustang versus a 850 horse power Chevy Camaro both 2010 models," said Matus who holds the races with her husband once in March and a second race in October.

"We've got a lot of local talent from Houston, Corpus, and our regular Texas die hards," she said.
