If you ever imagined scrubbing up for surgery or witnessing firsthand what it's like to be in the emergency room when trauma occurs, the Health Careers program can help make the dream a reality.
The two-day program is June 14-16 and introduces 20 high school 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grade students into the health industry.
The program fee is $30 and applications are accepted until April 30.
Students will receive hands on health labs in nursing, medical lab technology, respiratory therapy along with learning physical therapy, radiology and pharmacy duties.
The program, which is in conjunction with the Pecan Valley Area Health Education Center, Citizens Medical Center, DeTar Healthcare System and Victoria College, also has breakout sessions and presentations on clinical and non-clinical health careers.
The program also helps students develop an action plan for reaching career goals.
