Members of the Junior League of Victoria are taking part in the fifth annual Kids in the Kitchen program Monday and Tuesday.

They will be at the YMCA at 9 a.m. Monday and the Boys and Girls Club at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

League members will discuss with kids the importance of healthy eating and the benefits of an active life. The kids will also participate in hands on activities, including the preparation of a healthy after-school snack.

This nationwide initiative is designed to address the growing issues of childhood obesity and poor nutrition at the grassroots level. It also builds on a Junior League tradition of working to improve childhood nutrition.

The YMCA is at 1806 N. Nimitz St. and the Boys and Girls Club is at 202 Hopkins St.

For more information about the Kids in the Kitchen program, call 361-782-5486 or visit the Association of Junior Leagues International Web site at www.ajli.org.
