Faith Academy baseball, softball players recognized

After successful baseball and softball seasons, a number of Faith Academy athletes were named to all-district teams.
For the baseball team, they had four players make the first team and four make the second team.
Leading the second team was sophomore catcher Robert Gleinser, who was named District MVP after hitting .555 with 21 RBI during the district season.
Joining him were junior Dustin Cabrera, sophomore Trey Cole and freshman Geoff Graff.
Cabrera hit a team-high .562, was a perfect 11-for-11 in stolen bases on offense, while winning three games with an ERA of 0.92 on the mound.
Cole hit .487 with 18 RBI at the plate, while winning three games and striking out 32 in 23 innings on the mound.
Graff hit .538 with 16 RBI in his freshman campaign.
They had four other freshmen make the second team: Isaac Gutierrez, Tim Gutierrez, Jacob Garcia and Josh Moya.
The Lady Cougars also had eight players earning all-district honors this season.
The first team selections included junior Kayla Firova, senior Destiny Garcia and junior Chris Sanchez.
Firova hit .448 with 13 stolen bases and 19 RBI. She also won seven games pitching, including a no-hitter.
Garcia hit .484 and slugged .774 with 11 steals and 12 RBI.
Sanchez hit .380 with 8 stolen bases and 14 runs scored.
Freshmen Bianca Sanchez and Kelsey Solis were named to the second team, while sophomores Shelby Brown and Jessica Gonzales and freshman Tori Sauseda were named honorable mention selections.
