Carl “Bud” Burt, 73, passed away May 2, 2010 in Bay City. Born on Dec. 30, 1936 in Bishop, Texas to the late Carl A. and Frances Lillie Starks Burt. He served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years both in Korea and Vietnam. Upon retiring he entered the nuclear energy field as an instructor at the South Texas Project as well as Detroit Edison where he eventually retired. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a die-hard Tidehaven Tiger fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his extended family, joking and singing songs. His nieces and nephews were especially delighted with Uncle Bud’s diving antics. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law. Lisa Carrillo and husband Nick, Kathy Carrillo and husband Ray, grandchildren; Mitchell, Dylan, Lucas, Lindsay, Donny, Isaak, Isaiah; brothers, Jim Burt of DeKalb, III., Jack Burt of Cay City, Texas; sisters, Margaret Haverlah of Industry, Texas, Bonnie Theus of Silsbee, Texas, Kathryn Stevens of Clayton, North Carlina, Sue North of Bay City, Texas and a host of Nieces, Nephews and other family members and friends. Preceded in death by his parents his brother Tom and his beloved wife of 43 years, his lovely lady Sandra with whom he loved to travel. A celebration of life service will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Jack Burt officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. There will be a private interment at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Turning Point, P.O. Box 2118, Galveston, Texas 77553, an organization that provides recreational water activities for adults and children living with disabilities.
