Area residents may learn more about protecting their family papers, photos and books through an exhibit on display this month at The Victoria College/University of Houston-Victoria Library.
The exhibit is part of the first national Preservation Week.
"Memories and treasures should last a lifetime and be passed on to future generations," said Joe Dahlstrom, senior director of the joint library. "We want to inspire people to preserve their personal, family and community collections and to raise awareness about the role libraries, archives, museums and other cultural institutions can play in providing good preservation information."
National Preservation Week, sponsored by the American Library Association, started Sunday and ends Saturday, although the exhibit will be up through the end of May. The exhibit features guidelines for protecting family collections and samples of supplies and tools used by librarians and archivists.
The exhibit is on the first floor of library, 2602 N. Ben Jordan St.
