Healthy aging conference scheduled

Insight into a healthy lifestyle for senior citizens is the theme of the Healthy Aging Conference scheduled for Thursday, May 20, at the Victoria Community Center.
The event, sponsored by the Golden Crescent Area Agency on Aging, Citizens Medical Center and Texas AgriLife Extension, combines educational presentations and a health fair with free health screening and door prizes. Sessions include diabetes, cardiovascular health, medication safety, dental care, the aging back, and healthy lifestyles, among others.
The conference, designed for senior adults and caregivers, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $2 at the door and includes a box lunch from H-E-B Cafe Spoonz.
Reservations are encouraged by calling 361-575-4581, but walk-ins are welcome. Limited free transportation is available. Call the Area Agency on Aging three days in advance to request transportation or for general information, 800-574-9745 or dial 2-1-1 (option 1, local community resources).
The event is held in conjunction with Older Americans Month.
