CUERO - Don't have plans this Friday? Well, you could always dress up in costume, run a 1K and listen to live music.
Local musician Doug Blank has organized the Ryan's on Main Presents the First Best 1K Ever in downtown Cuero starting at 7 p.m. Friday.
All it costs to register is the donation of canned goods, which will go to a local food bank.
All participants are encouraged to dress up in costume, he said.
The race starts in the alley behind the Ryan's on Main flower shop, 112 E. Main St., around the courthouse and back.
In addition, local bands The Loveletter, The Ride Home and Doug Blank and the Violent Man will play before and after the race.
"It's just a fun thing I wanted to do. It's more of a festival setting and vibe," Blank added. "There'll be music and local vendors. It's going to be a good time."
In addition, on the following night, Blank will put on the play he co-wrote with Trey Morton, "The First Best Quest Ever," at the same location. The winner of the 1K and a guest will receive V.I.P. treatment, Blank said.
Friday's festivities get underway at 7 p.m. with a performance by The Loveletter and the race at 9 p.m.
Saturday's play begins at 9 p.m.
