AUSTIN - Flatonia's softball season came to an end Tuesday.
The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League denied an appeal by Flatonia seeking to prevent having to forfeit games for using an ineligible player.
As a result, Flatonia will not play Kingsville Academy in the regional semifinals and will be replaced by North Zulch, which it defeated in the regional quarterfinal round.
The player in question moved to Flatonia but was found not to meet residency requirements. As a result, the Lady Bulldogs were forced to forfeit 20 games, including their entire District 28-1A schedule.
