Goliad graduation first event at new center

The Goliad Special Event Center will have their grand opening, Sunday. The event center will host it's first event June 4.

GOLIAD -Goliad High School class of 2010 will be the first to graduate in the new Goliad Special Event Center.

After nearly two years of construction, the events center will open Sunday for the community to visit.

New superintendent Christy Paulsgrove said she is looking forward to the first event on June 8 and hopes to host various programs as well. She sat down recently to talk about the center

Q: What does the event center mean for Goliad?

A: We hope to host some area playoff games and generate the economy in Goliad. We have a new hotel coming in. The community will also be able to use the community weight room and indoor track.

Q: Will the community be able to use the event center following the open house?

A: After graduation, hours will be posted for the community to use the track and weight room. There will also be somebody on site.

Q: Has the schedule been made on what will be the first game played at the center?

A: The volleyball team will be the first to play on it in August, but the schedule has not been made yet.
