George West, Texas may be small in population but what they lack in human bodies they make up for with imagination.

Located south of San Antonio, George West (population about 2,500) is the Storytelling Capital of Texas and every November they celebrate this fact by holding a Storyfest. Now in its 22nd year, the George West Storyfest (try saying that five times fast) is Saturday and has a full schedule of events, from story showcases ranging from tall tales to history, folktales to cowboy poetry, and the state's biggest liars will be on hand to compete in the Texas State Liars' Contest.

Oh yes, you read that right. You can win a prize just for being an awesome liar.

In addition, there will be live music, from bluegrass to '50s rock 'n' roll, nonprofit vendors selling food, arts and crafts, a classic car show, a parade, a 5k run and a street dance featuring performances by Houston Marchman and the Pear Ratz, according to the official website, www.georgeweststoryfest.org.

Among the many storytellers who will be on hand include featured speakers Tim Tingle, Yvonne Healy and James Ford.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Little Red Wagon Parade and opening ceremonies follow on the steps of George West courthouse. Festivities continue until the street dance ends at midnight.
