  • I am a proud B-town grad from 98. My parents live in the community and we all truly love the town. I have held a couple of fundraisers to help give scholarships away each year and the kids are very grateful to receive them. As a former coach of the school and student I will admit there is easy access to drugs and alcohol. It does not matter where your at this problem is EVERYWHERE even here in Florida where I live now. It comes down to good parenting and kids making the right choices. There is really good kids there whom I've coached and they have good hearts. We need more extra curricular activities for the kids to do outside of school to keep them away from the negative choices when they get bored. I am glad to see know one was hurt in the fire and hopefully a lesson was learned. I love B-town and I wish it nothing but the up-most success for everyone in the community.

  • I graduated from BHS in 09 and maybe it's not like this anymore, but when I was there, drugs were all over the place in school. You all make it sound as if all these drug deals are just going down in the community, while the students are all trying to stay away from it. Yeah right. The students were all in on it too, and yes they were students who were in the band, played sports, and for the most part had great school spirit. Open your eyes people and stop thinking the kids are so innocent. I hated going to school there and I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

  • @artramirez & @goodalescott -- How do you get from a suspected Meth lab to BISD and the COMMUNITY? Are we reading the same article!! Meth labs unfortunately are every where not just Bloomington . But since you are so concerned about meth labs, drugs etc why not contact your local law enforcement to see what you as a citizen can do to help out the community.

The kids that devote their time to play football and to play in the band are there because they enjoy doing it and that means they are not out in the streets. The kids know about school spirit they see it when they stand in that field every Friday… I’m an aunt of one of those kids you are talking about and I support my nephew at a 110% so speak for yourself. And BTW when I go to the games I see nothing but SCHOOL PRIDE whether win or lose these kids are playing their hearts out. There are many parents out there volunteering and doing the right thing. So its people like you that bring the community down with your LACK OF SUPPORT for BISD and the COMMUNITY…

We are moving in the right direction with the new elects. Parent and community support are essential to making this happen!

  • To all that posted negative comments about Bloomington education system all I have to say is "Get off your butts and start making a difference." I graduated from BHS in 71' two years before that we went 1-9 but guess what? The stadium was always full of supporters something it seems you are lacking. It does not matter where your child goes to school, if you do not support the school it is going to be same. So it is time for all you whiners to come forward and make a difference, express your thought and feelings at the next school board meeting. It is time for you to work for what is right and support your children. Sitting at home and venting is not going to make things better. Go out and be heard make your school a better school bring school spirit and support back to BHS. GOOOOO BOBCATS!

  • txgal...you are sooooo right. Time after time i see these things going on and there are a few people trying. One of the candidates that was running for school board is trying to make a difference in his neighborhood but is having no luck. From what i've seen he has gotten some high school kids and college kids to clean up what people call "b" street basketball court. Good luck with that! Stand Up Bloomington People And Give A Lending Hand!!!

  • There is some very good people in Bloomington, unfortunantly the bad outweighs the good ,if they arent users they are sellers and for some reason police officers dont care.Go to speedy stop and just sit there for 30 min ,you will see people drinking & driving,Selling & using drugs.I have personally watched soo many handoffs among people ( Drugs) & everyone is soo comfortable doing it. Sad thing is anytime Ive called the cops, nothing is ever done. I love the small community of Bloomington,I just wish someone would clean it up!! For the children growing up here I pray something is done, theres no future for the kids when drugs, gangs & violence runs soo rampant. & the only complaint I have about BISD is having the middle school next to the highschool, its gross that 12th graders are dating the 6th graders !! No wonder pregnancy is soo high among 13 & 14 yr olds, which results in high dropout rates.Wise up move the middle school!!!!

  • artramirez & goodalescott: I agree with your comment on the past school board, however I know they are in much better shape after the election. As far as your comment on the BHS BAND and THE BOBCAT FOOTBALL TEAM, I think that is a classless, uneducated assumption to make. How many games did you attend? Did you realize that most of the young men on the football team were freshman & sophmores? Although the majority of the scores didn't indicate the pride that these young men had, they fought for 4qtrs. These young men showed a lot of character to go out there each week and play their hearts out and never gave up. These are the type of men that make great leaders. Anyone can have PRIDE when things are going good and your winning but when things get tough and your outmanned, those that finish the fight regardless of the outcome are winners. Remember, Those young men and women that you belittle are someones children. Have respect for yourself and don't be a coward taking cheap shots on these kids or the community!

  • Poor pitiful Bloomington.
The little community once was a fairly nice place to live.
From the debacle of the School Trustee System which is only and all about it's individual members, it is the Bloomington ISD student body which suffers much like an unwanted child.
    No school spirit.
The obvious lack of school pride in the BHS Band and the Bobcat football team this year in particular.
    Now a Meth Lab....
    Pitiful.
    Plain and simple.
