The school district will recognize five Vietnam-era veterans Thursday at its regular meeting.
The veterans will receive honorary diplomas because they served in the military instead of completing high school. The award is part of a Texas program that allows World War II, Vietnam and Korea-era veterans to get a diploma from the school district where they would have graduated.
A short reception will be at 5 p.m. before the meeting. It is open to the public.
The district will also hear the first update on the school dress code by administrators from secondary campuses.
"They will present information about their enforcement efforts, on any challenges that they have faced in regard to the enforcement of the dress code and how they're handling some of the violations of the dress code," said Diane Boyett, communications manager with the school district.
The updates were required when the board first made the standardized dress code change last year.
The board is also expected to set the calendar for the 2011-12 school year and approve the district's annual auction.
