A man was injured when a sport utility vehicle collided with his motorcycle in the 1500 block of East Rio Grande Street on Tuesday afternoon.

About 4:30 p.m., a gold Ford Explorer, driven by Victoria resident Jorge Cavazos, entered the center turn lane on Rio Grande Street after exiting the H-E-B grocery parking lot.

Cavazos, 58, was attempting to turn left into the Jack in the Box parking lot when he hit the motorcycle, which was traveling west on Rio Grande Street in the center lane.

The motorcycle collided with the Explorer's right front panel.

The motorcyclist, whose name and hometown was unknown, was taken to Citizens Medical Center with unknown injuries, however Victoria police officer Travis Hanson said the man was conscious before he was taken to the hospital.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. Cavazos and his woman passenger were wearing seatbelts and were uninjured, the officer said.

Cavazos was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way turning left, Hanson said.
