Adela Estrada, of Victoria, has read Dance Magazine for many years, starting when her daughter began taking dance classes. She always thought to herself that one day she might see her daughter within its pages.
"Little did I know it would be my son," she laughed.
Estrada's son, Domingo Estrada, who is a dancer with the Mark Morris Dance Group, is pictured on the cover and the inside story of the magazine's November issue. The magazine is honoring the Mark Morris Dance Group for celebrating its 30th anniversary this month.
"I'm just so excited. It means so much to me," Estrada's mother said.
Estrada, also a Victoria native, is one of 18 dancers who make up the dance company. He began his dancing career with the Our Lady of Sorrows' Ballet Folklorico. He was also a part of the Memorial High School Dance and Drill Team, according to a 2009 Advocate article.
In 2007, Estrada earned a bachelor of fine arts in ballet and modern dance and soon after joined the Mark Morris Dance Group, which is based in New York.
