Speakup--
I did not do anything to louieclanger's comment.
My target was southtexas, and I, for one, will be thrilled when the Advocate fionally installs the sarcasm font!
For what it is worth, I think straight party voting needs to go.

I fear Rupert Murdoch occupies that lofty position.

Congrats! You can be the yin to George Soros's yang.

Since rising to the top 1% of earners in the country I am happy to say I always vote a straight Republican ticket.

How come nobody complained about straight-party voting until it started benefitting Republicans?

Obviously quite a few Republicans voted straight & then changed some things around because the Republican candidate for County Judge did not win, which he would by the numbers provided.

Interestingly, the only person quoted who supports straight-ticket voting is the county chairman of the Democratic party. I'm not sure if that's one of the 99.9 percent of the imbeciles louieclanger had in mind, but I can't pointing out the irony that she, with the help of Pelosi and all the other Democrats in Congress, make it so easy to vote a straight ticket, although not in ways they intended.

WOW...@southtexas, I couldn't have said it any better...HOWEVER, I do hold both particular parties responsible. I have always voted a split ticket, even now. When the Republicans were in charge, they were the curplits so everyone voted Democratic now the Democrats are in charge and they're not worth a darn. I do not penalize a candidate for his affiliation with a certain party.

The only thing we can all agree on is "Congressmen CONTINUAL voting themselves raises and recent studies show they are among the very richest of Americans". -
You tell him, southtexas, because we all know we didn't have any of these problems, none of this debt, and everyone was blissfully happy until January 20, 2009.

Louieclanger....might I ask who made you such a obnoxious expert on anything?
I have never voted a straight party ticket until this election. The Democratic party in power is destroying America....Even our great, great grandkids will be paying off our National Debt....When unemployment is killing us and people are losing their jobs right and left the Congressmen are voting themselves raises and recent studies show they are among the very richest of Americans. Our President has managed to make us an International Joke....and if you don't believe it, you need to travel abroad some. Jobs are flowing out of this country like water due to the fact that America is becoming one of the most unfriendly places in the world for businesses to operate. We are getting ready to suffer the highest increase in taxes ever known in the U.S.....and don't give me that old "it's only for the rich" business. Those effected the most will be small business owners.....the ones who hire local employees but because their gross income is over $250,000 for the business.....never mind that the boss may be living on $50,000 bucks a year, their taxes will increase to the point where they will have to lay off workers to survive. Obamacare is destroying the World's best healthcare system and replacing it with basically a whole lot of very expensive nothing. If you are over 60 you might as well just get used to taking a lot of morphine to get rid of your problems, because you certainly are not going to get any real treatment. That is exactly what has happened to Canada....they have become a country of prescription drug abusers because when it takes 2 years to get your hernia repaired, and you are hurting like crazy a little codeine is a cheap and easy fix. Washington is filled with "crooks".....and that is not just a funny bit of sarcasm....every day someone is getting indicted for something and for every frog you catch there are 50 that get away. So this year instead of looking at the man/woman, I decided that any person who publicly associates himself with the Democratic party will NOT get my vote. Some of the local Democrats I have voted for in the past....However, this year, if you are stupid enough to still stand up and say you are a Democrat in light of the condition our country is in because of that party....sorry Bubba, I'm not voting for you.
Doing away with the ability to vote a straight ticket will do nothing....It might take me a little while longer to vote, but I'm gonna still vote a straight party ticket.... for the party who, though not perfect, is not ruining the America I loved and who my relatives have fought for through the generations.

Voters, could vote a straight-ticket , but then manually deselect and then select the opponent.
November 21, 2010 at 9:58 a.m.
If a person is too lazy to take the time and initially vote a split vote, do you honestly think he will go back and then manually deselect a candidate in a specific race, and then select another? -
