A Department of Public Safety trooper found 4.6 pounds of cocaine in a truck's drive shaft after a traffic stop on Monday morning.

More than four pounds of cocaine were found in a truck during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 59 on Monday morning.

Around 9:47 a.m., a Department of Public Safety trooper pulled over a 2007 white Ford F-150 on suspicion of speeding on the highway just north of Loop 463, said DPS Trooper and Public Information Officer Gerald Bryant.

Bryant said the trooper decided to search the vehicle after the truck's driver, Ruffino Uresti, provided conflicting information.

During the search, the trooper found 4.6 pounds of cocaine in the truck's drive shaft, Bryant said.

Uresti, 42, of Brownsville, was arrested on a charge of first-degree felony possession of a controlled substance.

He remained in the Victoria County jail on Monday night.
