Thanksgiving is just on the horizon, which means stores packed with shoppers grabbing up the trimmings to complete their holiday feasts.

For others, it's the day after Thanksgiving that requires the most planning.

They pore over store advertisements, plan out shopping lists and mentally gear themselves up for early morning of retail therapy.

Black Friday, the official kick-off to the holiday shopping season, is just around the corner. Here are a few items retailers believe will weigh in big when it comes to day-after-Thanksgiving shopping.

TVs

People like their televisions, and retailers expect many to take that into consideration this holiday season. LCD TVs are big sellers, as well as models that allow viewers to log directly into the Internet. 3-D varieties are becoming bigger and better, too.

Gaming systems

Consoles made a major comeback and now they allow people to get up and get moving while still indulging their gaming side. The Nintendo Wii, Xbox Kinect and Playstation PS3 are all expected to go over big this season.

Barbies

This primped and plastic female has been around for years, but she remains a timeless gift. The doll tops the list for girl toys this holiday season.

Video games

With gaming consoles coming in high on holiday shopping lists this year, it's no surprise that kids - and their grown-up counterparts - will need something to play on them. Games are the No. 1 toy item for boys this year.

Electronics

Gadgets typically go over big throughout the holiday season, and this year is no exception. Digital cameras, GPS devices, mp3 players and smartphones will all likely play a major role in holiday sales. Laptops and tablet-style computers are also popular.
