The Texas Department of Public Safety Victoria Office received a $300 donation from the Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs in the Victoria area.
Sgt. Michael Cantu is the District 3A representative for DPSOA. The school's DPS instructs D.A.R.E. at Industrial East, Saint Ludmila and Yorktown Elementary Schools. Patti Strieber, with Yorktown Elementary School, will accept the donation on behalf of the schools.
Senior Trooper Gerald Bryant, who teaches D.A.R.E. at these schools, will use the funds for rewards for the students participating in the program. Bryant has been instructing D.A.R.E. at the schools for about 15 years and has received support from this organization over the years.
