DPS receives grant for DARE program

ADVOCATE STAFF REPORTThe Victoria office of the Texas Department of Public Safety has received a $300 donation from the Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs in the Victoria area.
Sgt. Michael Cantu is the District 3A representative for the association.
Senior Trooper Gerald Bryant teaches D.A.R.E. at Industrial East, St. Ludmila in Shiner and Yorktown elementary schools.
Bryant will use the money for rewards for the students participating in the program. Bryant has been teaching D.A.R.E. at the schools for about 15 years and has received support from the association over the years.
