DJ Jaynes, the former West High School drill team director, has filed a grievance with the school district to contest her reassignment.
The grievance was filed earlier this week, said Dwight Harris, grievance officer with the Victoria Federation of Teachers, who is representing Jaynes.
Jaynes was reassigned to teach physical education at Mitchell Guidance Center and Liberty Academy on Monday after serving more than 30 years as a high school dance instructor.
The school district will not comment about Jaynes' reassignment, saying it is a personnel matter. Also, the district would not confirm whether she filed a grievance.
"At this time, I cannot confirm or deny it," said Diane Boyett, communications specialist with the district.
Harris said he is working with the district to have a public hearing before the school board instead of a private hearing as a part of the typical grievance procedure.
"She has nothing to hide," he said.
