  • Since the republicans don't have anyone that can beat President Obama, does that mean We won't have a recovery until 2016?

On a serious note, this is a very good starter series on the economy....The Advocate would be doing a public service by educating its readers on the finer points.

  • The definition of a recession is when your neighbor is out of a job.

The definition of a depression is when YOU are out of a job.

  • A lot of people that I read in these articles about the recession don't really understand what a recession is. By definition, a recession is only occuring when you have two quarters of negative economic growth. Simply put, you have to keep losing more jobs and spending less this quarter than you did last quarter. If we had done that for the last 2-3 years and were still doing it, we would have millions of people literally, not figuratively, starving and rioting. We haven't gained back the jobs that were lost in the recession, but that doesn't mean that we are still in the recession. It just means that the economy is at worst stagnant.

  • Sounds like true democrats wrote this article. How about the almost 10% unemployment and have you tried to borrow money lately? But we can still blame it on Bush, can't we.
