I don't know what you are wowing about. Booklady's post does nothing to clear DJ of the laundry list of unethical and illegal actions she has committed. WOW!

    October 20, 2010 at 10:46 p.m.
  • 1. Drill team is UIL governed under side by side rules and must comply by district policy to UIL rules
    2. There are ethic moral restrictions contained in their contracts and district policy
    3. By law alcohol cannot be served at any function related to a school including booster clubs. see TABC Code and TEA
    4. Reasignments are solely within the discretion of the Superintendent in the best interest of the district. The board has no authority to over rule that.
    5. I have no idea what Ms. Jaynes is waiting for but she must follow procedure by having a hearing.
    6. The district may control a student's activities relating to school and has considerable immunity from being sued.

You can be assured the true story is far beyond what the public will be able to hear from either side. And as a note, I would think a football coach would be treated the same way for the same actions. All of this is on the VISD website under policy. It took me awhile to find it, but you can too.

  • 1. Dance/drill team is not a UIL-sanctioned competition and therefore does not fall under UIL rules. However, the district can outline practice times, limits, etc., in district policy. Has it done this? I ask because I truly don't know the answer.

    2. Ethics/morals clauses in teacher contracts were dropped long ago. If you are of legal age, you can drink in public and be in places where alcohol is served and not be fired. Welcome to the 21st century.

    3. Numerous booster clubs throughout the state have alcohol at their meetings and at fundraisers. While that may upset some, it is not illegal or even unethical. The district's policy regarding booster clubs (GE (Local)) is vague and would be torn apart by an attorney, which may end up happening.

    4. To think that reassignment automatically makes her guilty is ludicrous. As someone else pointed out, teachers can be assigned at the will of the district, according to the employment contract they sign. That being said, ISDs are not the legal system. There are few, if any, checks and balances that require a district entity to be ethical. Unfair things happen at school districts (and every other place of business) across the nation on a regular basis.

    5. It is possible that Ms. Jaynes is not responding to explicit accusations at this time because she is waiting for an event where a binding judgment will occur--like a suit against the district or a civil defamation of character/slander/libel suit against individuals, for example. I'm not saying that anyone was slandered or libeled. That would be for a court to decide--and I'm not talking about the court of public opinion.

    6. Threatening students of any age with expulsion if they speak to someone outside of school hours is a First Amendment violation and would probably thrill an ACLU attorney to no end, costing the district thousands in legal fees to clean up.

I don't know what the true story is nor do I care. I do, however, think the district handled it poorly.

Finally, if a football coach had enjoyed the same amount of success through the decades that Jaynes has as a drill team instructor, this entire fiasco would never have seen the light of day.

  • Where is the money raised from TKB? Where are the numbers on that event? There are businesses in this community that want to know their money went to the girls and is not being held for some nefarious reason. Has DJ handed the money to VISD?
I would say that the administration needs to shut down this team but I think that is exactly what DJ wants. If she can't have it, no one can. This whole thing has become too destructive and embarrassing to our community and schools. One thing is certain, these drill team parents are proving everything VISD thinks in regard to hazing and abuse. Who else can they threaten or attack to get their way? They are now turning on eachother. I realize the school board has no say in personel matters like this but can't someone end this for our community's sake. Drill team parents and members are planning to "storm" the board meetings, to what end? The school board can change nothing because they do not have the authority to do so. I feel certain that VISD would never have taken this course if they did not have sound evidence in which to act. So sound that they felt compelled to remove a 30 year teacher knowing how volatile this situation would be. I commend them for trying to keep these matters private. How sad for our new schools, teachers and students to have to go through this for one organization. VISD needs to put an end to this so the school can move forward to the positive business of educating our children.

Outside of old Victoria in the real world she would of already been canned. The Good old boy or girl system always come to an end and I still see more fallout. • Let me give you a little tidbit about Mitchell. I have been there a couple times and the school is spotless. The front office staff, custodial staff and faculty I ran into were very polite and helpful, smiling and asking if I had been helped. The students looked sharp, and were very respectful. Don't bash the school, staff or students. Other campuses could learn a great deal from this facility.

  • Nlj... DJ was reassigned to Mitchell because it was the only opening for a PE teacher. The P.E. teacher was the punishment, not Mitchell! Are you serious......"a dumping ground for worthless students and teachers."...Shame on you for putting down teachers who take the unwanted task of handling the Children that the regular schools can't handle! They are highly trained teachers who to teach there by choice. I know a few of those "worthless" teachers and know for a fact they've all been offered jobs on regulars campuses that they turned down for the love of helping these at risk children. I commend the teachers at Mitchell.

A group of parents from all of the schools organization bond together like never before to promote a great pride for the warriors and you start trashing them. Now
There thieves. They couldn't possibly want a great place for there children to attend school. Just like DJ out for there personal gain
Not because they love children and want nothing but the best for
Them. Most of you have probably never even volunteered to coach tour Childs soccer team or been a team mom. Just spectators from the sidelines that criticize how others do there jobs. Pathetic hecklers with crap better to do. Get a life

  • I did want to say one thing and this is truth. A couple of years ago, after waiting for three months for an appointment with Jay Lester and Bob Moore. I finally secured one. I did that on behalf of a girl who had been on the team. I took her down to the VISD administration building to talk with them. We offered proof of some things that the director deliberatly did to hurt this girl. Nothing ever came of it. This young lady is in counseling now from all the emotional damage from name calling, bullying Etc by several members of the team as well as the director.

This girls parents were so afraid to speak out when she was in high school, fearing further retaliation to the girl as well as their property. I took it upon my self to get this girl infront of whom I thought were the proper folks, and she made the trip home from college to speak to them...............NOTHING YET!

  • "DJ Jaynes has an amazing ability to form kids into young men and women. She teaches them that hard work pays off and gives many children in this community the opportunity to experience what winning truly feels like."

So true, that is exactly why she is needed at Mitchell.

Hopefully she can use her amazing ability to teach the most at risk students, in VISD, that hard work does in fact pay off, and they will have the ability to change their lives and succeeded in life as adults.

    October 20, 2010 at 6:48 p.m.
  • This is disgusting. They accused her of hazing and harrasment, if this was indeed true she should have been fired, not reassigned so she can turn around and do the same to others. Which we all know is false.

How can anyone question why the organization competes? EVERY high school dance team competes. That is why they exist. Football season is their off season. Dance teams are not pep-squads and they are not school clubs they are TEAMS. You must try-out for the team - just like cheerleading, band, softball, tennis, football and baseball. It is a competitive team. Private teams are around in every town as well. Their purpose is to prepare girls for HIGH SCHOOL DANCE TEAM.

DJ Jaynes can walk her team into any competition and the stands fill and other team members, directors and parents approach DJ throughout the competition. Drill team competitions and cheerleading competitions are VERY similar. The only major difference is the cheerleaders only take one routine while the dance team takes 5 and the number of members on each team vary as well.

We are no longer in the 1960's and these teams are not formed to stand on the bleachers and chant! That is LONG GONE!!!!

Why is it such a crime in this town to actually support a team or organization? Keeping students involved in extra-curricular activities keeps them off the streets and teaches them life-skills that will last a life time. DJ Jaynes has an amazing ability to form kids into young men and women. She teaches them that hard work pays off and gives many children in this community the opportunity to experience what winning truly feels like.

Let the lady have her hearing and go on with life! Yes I will agree the band as well as the drill team make the Football game allot more enjoyable but at the end of the day people are not buying tickets to see either one! Its the football team that sells this tickets! people want to watch football the half time show is a filler...Im not sure why this story has even made the newspaper!? dance team instructor has grievance field against her LMAO WHO CARES!!!

    October 20, 2010 at 5:06 p.m.
  • Did the former drill team instructor violate UIL practice time rules? I know they were not UIL but they were supposed to follow the UIL rules. There were long days and nites for some of the practices. That could put her in a pickle also.

  • lp1174,
Get a grip! She is not their mother. She is a teacher! Also, the proof is in the Mitchell cafeteria pudding. She got reassigned! Proof. Helloooooo, proof. If she is innocent, show the grievances and HER proof.

    October 20, 2010 at 4:32 p.m.
  • West what, you need to get the facts. She was not reassigned for taking money only. She was reassigned for many other things. Which means she violated many policies not only local but state and UIL. See you need to get informed.

I saw Moore with his side kick. But was is funny is that all these DJ supports have not once questioned why Mrs. Crick still has a job. If she told the treasurer of the booster to give this friends of TKB 10,900 dollars from the booster then she violated local, state, and UIL rules and guidelines. But was she reassigned or was she on administrative leave. Of course not, Why? because she is administration. Like I said the teacher will go first and administration wrong doings will be covered up. Mrs. Crick should be let go also. Who is going to get the 10,900 dollars back for the drill team.. If these parents are so concern about their dancers then they should be fighting for what those kids raised.

  • Wow Hole in One....

"Who better to benefit from the leadership of someone like DJ then the at risk youth at Mitchell?"

What a grand and important statement. I couldn't agree with you more. What is all this about anyway.

    October 20, 2010 at 4:19 p.m.
  • Twinkletoes,
The OTHER dance team did not even attend the game last night so they certainly could not have chanted anything. There were some girls there that attended on their own and they did witness this occurrence but were just as shocked as everyone else when this happened. They WOULD NEVER have done such a thing so PLEASE stop accusing them. The majority of the girls on BOTH teams are long time friends and attended school together for years before the split occurred. They have put many hours of practice in with each other and their feelings did not just shut off when the school split even though many parents make that accusation. They are not mean spirited like you are accusing them of being. They still love each other and support each other. To accuse them of starting this chant is just outright mean.

    October 20, 2010 at 4:12 p.m.
  • Funny - I've only been to one football game...years ago. We wanted to watch the game. We sat way on the very end - away from the cheerleaders and screaming boosters clubs. We wanted to watch the game. I wanted to listen to the football announcer. The cheerleaders came all the way to the end and brought amplifiers and yelled and yelled and yelled. I could not hear anything the announcer was saying. It was so distracting and annoying. I have never been back to a game since.

"32 highly successful years of teaching and coaching the drill team and they assign her to Mitchell. In no way is that beneficial to the district. The success she has had with the dance team and the wonderful impact she has had on so many lives is unbeleivable."

If someone has had such an "unbeleivable" and positive impact on so many lives over the past 32 years, and is so selfless and concerned with the future and success of her students, then wouldn't it be a tremendous benefit to the district? Who better to benefit from the leadership of someone like DJ then the at risk youth at Mitchell?

    October 20, 2010 at 4:06 p.m.
  • usesomelogic,
That may be the best post yet on any of these drill team blogs or stories. You just gave about 15 moms a heart attack.

    October 20, 2010 at 4:02 p.m.
  • Some of you better bring plenty of cry towels to that public meeting. I bet this is more like a public spectacle before it's all over. Who cares that they chanted "Where's your DJ"? I have got to give those East kids credit for thinking of something that good.

And for you few that think Bob Moore is enjoying this pathetic fiasco, I assure you he isn't. What Superintendent would look forward to one of his new schools having this much turmoil over something as simple being a leader in a Dance & Drill team? or running a simple high school booster club?

I can't wait until all of this is out in the open and we know "all" the facts. It probably won't ever happen, but maybe, just maybe it will.

Did any of you other folks start getting a bad feeling about this group when every other booster club except one was able to successfully split their funds after the split from Memorial?

Something still smells dirty to me.

  • Hey BOOM did you see Mr. Moore there just hanging out while all of this was going on. Bet he was smiling with his school board buddy by his side.

    October 20, 2010 at 3:36 p.m.
  • Boom,
Your comments are uneducated and hateful. The reassignment has to benefit the school district. 32 highly succesful years of teaching and coaching the drill team and they assign her to Mitchell. In no way is that beneficial to the district. The succes she has had with the dance team and the wonderful impact she has had on so many lives is unbeleivable.
Stick to the facts you say. First you talk greivance and now you talk VISD policy. You have no clue like the rest.
Taking money from the booster, you have to be kidding. If you honestly think she would need to steal money from anyone your blind. She would do what she does for these children for free. The school district doesnt pay her as it is for the amount of work she does.

    October 20, 2010 at 3:33 p.m.
  • Twinkeltoes, the other should no of chanted that but your team did destroy banners on their side that our students worked hard on. So, both of the teams need some social skill lessons. But, both principals should of been watching for what was happening. Yas principal could not do her job as an administrator because she was to busy on the floor actiing like a cheerleader. I attended the game and heard and saw many unprofessional mishaps.

Smart answer. You should apply for an administration job with VISD.

    October 20, 2010 at 3:19 p.m.
  • LP: That is my point. I am thinking that a high school dance/drill team should NOT be more than "that" - "that" being "just performing at half-time ... for your community and supporters in Victoria."

But it IS appropriate for an outside school activity. I truly wish that Mrs. Jaynes will continue to teach as a business so that the girls who wish to participate can do so.

A high school drill/dance team (or any other extra-curricular school sponsored activity) should be open for any student. The amount of money required to participate is extreme. Hopefully, this will be resolved quickly and the kids and the rest of Victoria following this story can focus on other issues more deserving in our community.

    October 20, 2010 at 3:18 p.m.
  • I don't know why I was censored, but I feel the public should know what happened at the volleyball game last night. The other drill team chanted, Where is DJ? over and over again in a chant towards the opposing teams drill team. Guess what two schools I am talking about? This was very unprofessional! These girls went straight for the juggler and maliciously hurt the other girls feelings. It is hard enough to be without your director, but the other teams girls never considered how they would impact our girls. Shame on you, OTHER team... we will not be attending your fundraiser as planned because of this and I will get as many people as possible to support this action. These girls should get a one game suspension for publically treating our girls like their feelings don't matter. Come on school board members, back up that plan!

    October 20, 2010 at 3:17 p.m.
  • Just because someone isn't terminated doesn't make the grievances untrue. They just may not qualify for termination. If two employees don't get along and neither does a poor job, an employer may chose to transfer one to another department to solve the problem. If a cashier's register comes up short several times but there is no proof of theft, the cashier may be transferred to the sales floor. Same here. Teachers have contracts and its not as easy as some think to terminate a teacher.

    October 20, 2010 at 3:12 p.m.
  • Ned,
This organization teaches young women to learn the balance of the important things in their life. They aren't only expected to balance school and half-time, but also doing what needs to be done to take winning routines to competition. The feeling of walking on to that competition dance floor with everyone in the stands up on their feet cheering is a feeling like no other. This team is one that many others win the dance world want to be. That feeling of winning at competition, after putting all of your heart and soul into hours and hours of practice, isn't one that comes with just performing at half-time. I know, from experience, that performing for your community and supporters in Victoria at half-time is a wonderful feeling. I loved every minute of it. But this drill team is more than just that.

    October 20, 2010 at 3:01 p.m.
  • Why should "DJ's supporters" have to prove that she is innocent? That isn't how our justice system works. DJ teaches her dancers to act with class. That is why her "supporters" haven't stooped down to the level of others, but only voiced their support for her. What the district is doing to her is exactly what they accused her of doing. They are harassing her in every way, shape, and form. It is not hard to see that. And for the current members, I am disgusted that they are not allowed to contact this woman who has made such a positive impact in their lives. I'm sure everyone has seen somewhere in the mix of all this that DJ is like a second mother to many of the girls. How would you feel if someone told you that you were not able to contact your mother because of something that you know she did not do? I would hope that you would not think that is fair.

    October 20, 2010 at 2:53 p.m.
  • I have some questions.

What kind of competitions are these girls going to that such HUGE amounts of money must be raised? Are the contests school related or private contests like beautiful baby pageants?

Why can't the girls learn the great dances and just perform at half time? I am thinking how all that money raised could have been used to benefit the schools or some other non-profit organization.

I am also wondering why the dance instructor does not just open a dance studio for this. She could go into business and enter contests like the Karate schools and the gymnastic schools.

At this point I am just thinking the whole dance/contest thing is not appropriate as a school-related function. A good argument could change my mind - but right now I think the priorities for the school activities that Victoria's children are involved in need to be looked at very closely.

    October 20, 2010 at 2:49 p.m.

  • Notice that DJ Jaynes never denied the validity of the grievances just simple said "I had some grievances filed, but not anything that anybody would be concerned about," .

Alyson also admitted she has read the grievances, neither of them can dispute the charges. This is the root of the problem, she feels the rules do not apply to her.
Not her and her supporters try to deflect attention to VISD and school board members are out to get her. Deflect, Deflect, Deflect.

Put the grievances on here and then deny the claims, maybe those parents will come and post their evidence. I for one would love to see both sides charges and disputes.

    October 20, 2010 at 1:53 p.m.

  • The parents involved have not blogged but very little. I have read up on the blogs today and the three families who used their own names and filed the grievances have said very little.

You all want to see the evidence and for those who wonder how the Advocate can report these issues? Well, your wish will be granted. Since DJ Jaynes herself has come out and publicly demanded a hearing and her supporters have said on the VICAD that they have read the grievances it will all to soon be given to the entire public.

You asked for the facts, they will soon be out their because as Alyson stated...it is no longer private. All of the haters and supporters just remember you were warned to be careful what you ask for.
You will all see it has nothing to do with jealousy and yes in the VERY END...the facts will be given. The parents have allowed the process to take it's course, professionally.
FYI- For those who say the parents should not have blogged, you sound ignorant being a blogger yourself. It's called freedom of speech and as you all keep claiming......both sides should be heard.

You keep asking questions....I know from an inside scoop your questions will be answered.

Second of all, the board member with the dagger may also be in the same boat as these disgruntled parents. Heck he may even be there guide. SUBMIT, SUBMIT, SUBMIT......
Now it isnt even about the angry parents, every drill team instructor, coach, teacher or anyone that is in charge of someone elses children is always going to have some parents that get upset because there son isnt the quarterback or starting pitcher or even the drill team major. Now its about the way the school district handled this situation.

  • JackDeuce - You are funny! I have a close friend that is a teacher in RRISD. (Round Rock ISD) she was reassigned in the first week of this school year because her schools enrollment was very low and another school in her district had a very high enrollment. She got moved from a wonderful school to a very rough school She did nothing wrong.... In her contract, it states that she can be reassigned at any given time if it is in the districts favour. They had a reason to re-assign her and it was done with class and she was given the exact reason.

The blogs that you refer to as a "bold move" were not FACTS... and the grievances were not filed over these accusations. We all know that I could go and write a blog on this site and not one item in it could be "true". The information they "boldly" posted has NO backing and the grievances and their postings are not one in the same. They do not cover the same "topics" and actually are all ocer the place... they attack other high school students, parents and administrators. YES, I have seen them. They are NOT "private" once given to the party involved. They are not however available to the general public!

  • perhaps her students are being so vocal because they're now being targeted the same way dj was ?

    October 20, 2010 at 12:46 p.m.
  • JackDeuce...
INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. Not guilty until proven innocent. She should not have to prove shes innocent. They should have to prove shes guilty. And when I say prove I mean show us the evidence she did these things!!!

    October 20, 2010 at 12:31 p.m.
  • JackDeuce... What is wrong with you? Why do you have such hatred? There are no facts. That is why she was not fired. How hard is that to understand? She was reassigned not fired. The two are not the same.

    October 20, 2010 at 12:28 p.m.
  • Thank goodness DJ is finally given her chance. You are right the truth will come out - I wish we could really find out the motives of those behind this. Red Rage.... I could not agree more. WHY BLOG?

    October 20, 2010 at 12:21 p.m.
  • I agree that the students should be able to voice their support! There is no reason administration should be threatening these YOUNG ADULTS (not children). It seems to me they are being hipocrits. You reassign someone for supposedly harassing students and that is exactly what they are doing by threatening them EVERYDAY!

In regards to the beer at the fundraiser.... did you know a School board member was there participating? Why isnt anyone beating down his door for allowing this?? Just think people.

I hope the school board really listens at the hearing... and isnt there just to be there. I will be there to voice my support for someone who has dedicated her life to this district and drill team.

    October 20, 2010 at 12:19 p.m.
  • It's hard to believe these parents that filed complaints when they come on the Victoria Advocate and blog about it creating more drama. I mean seriously, how childish is that?

Well maybe now the truth can come out...whatever it is.

Are you freaking kidding? Where the hell is there any dignity in being assigned to the alternative placement center after dedicating 32 years of selfless work to the district. There are only a very few people that are still teaching in VISD that were here when she began when she was 26 years old. Your comment is not only ignorant but insane. And yes, if children arent taught to fight in what they believe in they will regret it in life. have you ever made any sacrifices in your life? VISD should be punished for threatening these children to keep there mouths shut.

    October 20, 2010 at 11:54 a.m.
  • I am in NO way suggesting the team to have the right to attend the hearing (they could go if they want to)... That is NOT what I suggested... I just think it is unfair that they are NOT allowed to communicate with DJ or show support. Did you read Alisa's column? Someone they loved and trusted was ripped out of their life and they have not been allowed to communicate with her at all. That is JUST SAD. I dont think you understand the REAL IMPACT DJ has on the majority of her students. It's real, yes it is emotional and it is also heartbreaking to know that they did this to her and to the students. The children are being impacted by this more than anyone realizes. They are hurting and feel betrayed by the school district as well. That is SAD!

The girls just want to show their support for someone that has supported them for so long. Why is that to much to ask for? They do not want to "fight the district" or "beg for her return"... Just show their support, share their story and ask for the support from those around them. Its a huge difference -- and they should have thr right to do this.

  • Alyson...
Do you really think that the emotioanal responses of kids should be brought into the process of VISD administrative decisions, Should they base their decisions on public opinion and not facts? Perhaps they are actually protecting the kids from seeing and hearing things that could hurt them. Why would the director even want the kids to be involved in these adult matters. Perhaps VISD was actually trying to be lenient and allow her to keep a job or to retire with some dignity.

    October 20, 2010 at 11:39 a.m.
  • I am glad DJ is finally being able to have her voice heard!!!! I only wish that the current drill team was allowed to do the same. Instead they are being threatened with expulsion and suspension on a daily basis. I do not think this is one bit fair... Also, why is DJ allowed to teach children at Mitchell and Liberty Academy but not allow to communicate with any of the current dance team members??? Sounds like they are torturing her... I could not agree more with the fact that if she was truly "guilty" why didn't they just fire her?

    October 20, 2010 at 11:28 a.m.
  • will this grievance hearing cover the new batch of complaints filed by the same two parents or will that be covered in a different hearing ?

    October 20, 2010 at 10:53 a.m.
  • im glad to see the full grievance process being honored

should be a very interesting meeting

  • I am glad that Miss Jaynes stated that the grievances filed by parents had nothing to do with her reassignment. Now maybe those poor families who have been harrassed and ridiculed can have some peace. Now her "follwers" can concentrate their efforts agaist the "evil VISD" board members and their sinister plot to have the "righteous Queen" removed.

    October 20, 2010 at 10:36 a.m.
  • Victoriadoreforever...Your facts are wrong but even if they were true would that make it ok for the directer to break shcool rules? Werent grievances filed by numerous parents?
I would bet that if the truth were told hundreds of parents and kids who were involved in the drill over the years would have to admit that they saw the director say and do things over the years that they knew were innapropriate but they said nothing because it would just cause too much pain to their families. I have personally heard "many" stories from many people. They were just a fraid to speak up.
C'mon people at least be honest with yourselves.

  • A booster is used only to benefit the students not the parents and the sponsor/coach of the organization. It is school money, so when one violates the rules of UIL booster then they are at fault. To many people in the community who have no knowledge of the rules and guidelines. Please look them up before you blog.

If the event is a school related activity then DJ who is the sponsor/coach of the drill team needed to follow district policies. See she is a teacher before she is a drill team instructor. She receives a stipend for coaching/sponsoring this drill team. So, as a teacher she violated the code of ethics that is over her certification. NOw before you blog, get the facts straight. I do not have a student in the drill team. I am a very informed parent that is knowledgeable about the rules and guidelines.. Read, ask questions, and move away from the small town mentality.

All I have to say is get informed and maybe our community and schools will be more successful. To many people using the excuse, "that is how it had been done in the past." Being ignorant of the rules, guidelines, local, and state policies is not an excuse.

Cassie if you ever become a teacher you will make sure that you are informed because if something happens and violations have occurred you can bet that the teacher will be the first to go. Not administration. It is your job to be informed.

    October 20, 2010 at 10:15 a.m.
  • nlj...Are you serious? You obviously have no idea how booster clubs are supposed to work or the guidlelines and rules for a public shcool teacher. But, after 32 years you would think the director would be fully aware of how things are supposed to be done. But as the director always used to say when rules were brought up "oh we don't have to do that."

    October 20, 2010 at 10:12 a.m.
  • She never denies the charges filed against her, she just say that no one would be concerned about them. Really? Is it ok to break school rules as long as no one is "concerned?" She lies when she says she don't even know why she was reassigned. She was shown all of the greivances against her and was fully aware of all charges.

Why didn't the reporter ask her specifics like:

Did you uses booster club money to pay for you daughter and grandkid and personal friends to attend camps and competitions?

Did you uses booter club money to buy alcohol for meals. Meals that included some of the girls?

Did you use booster money to pay for Disneyland trip for your family including your son inlaw that is a West football coach.

What is crazy is that many of her supporters will get thrown under the bus by her when they are no longer usable to her. She will blame her "buddies" who were treasures in the past for the money and she will blame the kids for the hazing and the other parents for the slander.

I could go on all day with these questions but the answers really don't matter to her supporters.

    October 20, 2010 at 10:06 a.m.
  • The article says that she "...used booster funds for personal reasons..."

Is that wrong? It doesn't say she used those funds for personal gain. There is a difference.

If I'm in charge of a trust that has to buy a car - I can choose a Ford over Chevy because of personal reasons and it's not wrong.

And reassigning her to Mitchell Guidance Center as punishment says more about Mitchell and the school board than it does about her.

If they were being honest, they would refer to it for what they intend Mitchell, through their own actions, to be - a dumping ground for worthless students and teachers.

Calling it a 'Guidance' center is a stretch of any imagination - but I do understand the negative implications of properly renaming it, "Mitchell Academic Dumping Center" or even Mitchell Academic Recycling Center.

After all, we all try to hide our trash - even if it's with a catchy name. So I guess I can't blame them too much for that.

But I'll agree with the drill instructor - they should have just fired her as opposed to sending her to the 'dump' - wouldn't that have saved some tax dollars?

  • "Diane Boyett, communications director with the school district, would not say what the grievance contained.

"It's privacy issues related to personnel matters," she said. "

I do not understand why the Advocate allows the school district to get away with this. Simply because it is in a personnel; file does NOT mean it is confidential.

An internet search of the Texas Attorney Generals open records decisions clearly shows that only documents that show "EVALUATIONS" ARE CONFIDENTIAL OTHER DOCUMENTS IN THE FILE SUCH AS COMPLAINTS AND THE RESULTS OF INVESTIGATIONS OF COMPLAINT ARE PUBLIC INFORMATION.
    See AG open records opinions 444 (1986) and 405 (1983) and 400 (1983)

And I am sure that there are past and present parents and students that will show up to not in support Mrs. Jaynes. Some of us didn't didn't drink the purple kool-aid.

Can't wait to see how it all turns out in the end.

  • boom85,

There were lots of complaints about the beer at TKB, but they fell on deaf ears.

    October 20, 2010 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Well, she never denied the grievence on using booster funds. This is also a violation but it seems that no one cares if she did that. This is money that the girls worked hard for. She also had an event for 10 years that sold alcohol and no one complained. The district is a drug free and alcohol free zone. That does not mean only on campus but also at any school related activities off campus. The drill team performed at this event and helped work the event then it is a school activity. But once again the community did not care. There are policies, guidelines, and regulations that every school official should follow and she did not. So her 32 years of experience does not over ride the wrong that she had done. Only, until someone complained then the district decides to look into it. The district had turned the other cheek until people began complaining. I saw a school board member at the alcohol event and Mr. Moore.

She should be glad that the district still allows her to teach. As a teacher there is a code of ethics that teachers need to follow and she has violated some of them, so her certification should be taken away. If that happens it does not matter she can not be employed at any district because she would no longer have a certification. She should count her blessings and just resign.

When the entire truth is released it will only sting her wound more. She has no idea as she says, and she really doesn't have any idea of all the violations that she has done and the truth will only keep her at home.

  • Mrs. Jaynes: I am sorry you are having to go through this b.s. and having your name sullied as fodder for gossip! After more than 30 years with this school district and leading the Drill Team to how many national championships, and inspiring COUNTLESS teenage girls to try harder in school, to aspire to be their personal best, of giving them the confidence they needed to succeed in adulthood.... you should be given a gold medal! I hope that this will all come out in your favor. I'm sure there are past and present parents and students who will show up to support you.
