DJ Jaynes, the former West High School drill team instructor, will go before the school board Tuesday to publicly contest her reassignment.
"This is a level three hearing the board will conduct, in accordance with VISD policies, where Mrs. Jaynes or her representative will present their information and where the school district will present its information," said Diane Boyett, communications specialist for the district.
The hearing will be conducted similar to a court hearing, Boyett explained. Residents can sit in and watch, but will not be allowed to comment.
When both sides have presented, the board will then either uphold its decision or allow her to return as the instructor for West High School, as she is requesting, Boyett said.
Jaynes was reassigned Oct. 11 after parents filed several grievances accusing her of misusing booster club funds, and harassing students and parents.
Jaynes, who formerly taught dance for 32 years, was reassigned to teach physical education at Mitchell Guidance Center and Liberty Academy.
