Invista is hiring, but it's unclear how many of the jobs will come to Victoria.
The nylon producer, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, is immediately hiring 100 positions for its various offices and facilities across Texas.
Invista has two offices in Houston and sites in La Porte, Orange and Victoria.
The Victoria site employs about 600 people.
According to a news release issued Wednesday, the company is investing capital into improving safety, environmental projects, efficiency and infrastructure at all of its Texas sites over the next six years.
The company announced it'll hire project engineers, project estimators, project schedulers, chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, reliability engineers, instrument and controls engineers, and maintenance and production technicians.
Invista regional public affairs manager Amy Hodges said it's unclear where the jobs will go because it will depend on the needs of the various projects.
However, Hodges said the Victoria site will be included in these improvements. Some of the positions will be based from Victoria, Hodges said.
Citing company policy, Hodges declined to elaborate on the specifics of the planned improvements or the amount Invista is investing.
Invista is improving its facilities as part of a long-term investment, Hodges said, adding that they are excited and pleased to be hiring new employees as part of that.
"We're making a major capital investment in Texas and we need these new employees to support the projects we are undertaking for that investment," Hodges said.
