Red River Street will be reduced to one lane, westbound only, between Ben Wilson Street and Ben Jordan Street beginning Monday to install new utility lines and begin road construction.

Construction is expected to take about four months, weather permitting.

All businesses and parking lots in the work zone will remain accessible via alternate routes.

The city and contractor are working to reduce public inconvenience; however, drivers may experience delays in this area. Alternate routes are suggested when possible.

This construction is part of the $2,149,467 Red River Street Sanitary Sewer and Rehabilitation Overlay Project, Sam Houston Drive to Ben Jordan Street. The contractor is Lester Contracting of Port Lavaca.

The project is projected to be complete in nine months.
