HALLETTSVILLE - A nationally recognized expert on bullying will give a program Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic School.
"It's Not Just Joking Around," an anti-bullying program for parents and other family members will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the school.
Jodee Blanco, author of "Please Stop Laughing at Me," a New York Times best seller will present the program.
Blanco will share the story of her struggle as the target of severe school bullying. She will discuss how her parents and teachers helped; what didn't help and why; and offer similar insights from the tens of thousands of bullied students she has worked with across the nation.
The workshop will also include specific, practical advice for parents on how to intervene if their child is the victim, bully or bystander.
In addition, Blanco will address the plight of the "adult survivor of peer abuse" and offer suggestions on how to overcome these open wounds from the past.
Earlier in the day, Blanco will present a program to Sacred Heart students.
