  • "My atheist friend celebrates his freedom from the message of the cross. He believes he is responsible to no one but himself and can do as he pleases. He has not a care in the world, for tomorrow he may die. Meanwhile, I celebrate my dependency upon the message of the cross. I believe I have a responsibility to love my neighbor as Christ has loved me. I look forward to tomorrow, for in Christ I will live forever."

Almost sounds like your atheist friend is being described as uncaring and selfish here. I know many people who would tell you that being an atheist does not mean you give up caring for those around you or your fellow man in the world at large. All it means is that you focus on the life here and now instead of worrying about getting a ticket to the next one. Non-believers and those who do not follow a particular creed are just as charitable, giving, caring, loving and respectful as the most faithful.

  • Ask him where he plugs in his heart and lungs before he falls asleep. Into the Universal Power of God. This power goes outside our visibe Universe and God was there to create the Universe according to Dr. Stephen Hawkins. But it was no accident or law of physics alone. String theory, theory of relativity, gravity, etc..helped.
