Murder trial begins Tuesday
Testimony will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the trial of two men charged with killing a Victoria man a year ago.
Victoria residents David Francisco Barron, 26, and Marcus Pena, 24, are charged with murder in the 2009 death of Jason Garcia, 24.
Jury selection for the trial occurred Monday.
Judge Robert Cheshire will preside over the case.
Garcia was found dead and beaten in the 2300 block of South Laurent Street on Aug. 23, 2009.
In addition to Barron and Marcus Pena, Antonio Castillo Jr. and Rolando Pena Jr., 25, were also arrested in late August 2009 and charged with Garcia's death.
However, only Barron and one of the Pena brothers are being tried at this time.
Castillo's age is unknown.
Barron and Pena are suspected to be members of the Mexican Mafia, according to court documents.
