Victoria firefighters work to remove two women from a car that was struck outside of Motel 6 on Houston Highway on Wednesday afternoon. The women were taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro.

Two women were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a two-car collision in front of the Motel 6 on Houston Highway.

About 4:50 p.m., a Chevrolet Lumina occupied by two women attempted to turn into the motel from the northeast-bound turn lane when the driver disregarded oncoming traffic, according to Officer Robert Swanson, with the Victoria Police Department.

A Ford F-150 with a male and female occupant was travelling southwest on the highway and struck the passenger's side of the Lumina.

The Lumina's occupants were transported by ambulance to DeTar Hospital, Swanson said.

All passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The occupants' names and ages were not immediately available.
