  • I remember watching Walter Cronkite s announcement that day.

I was in Kindergarten at Northside Baptist, half a day back then for K. Victoria actually had cable tv back then, Tele-Tenna, with all of four channels, KSAT, KENS and KMOL out of San Antonio and err, the independent out of Houston channel 39, the one with the wrestling on it lol. So there wasn't a lot of viewing choices during the afternoon.

Anyway... I listened to Walter Cronkite s announcement, walked to the kitchen and told me mom and the neighbor lady the President had been shot... they didn't believe me at first, and my five year old self thought, ok no big deal then.

  • Sorry. I know there are many folks this is very important to their lives. But the idea of commiting a total of 165 sq. in. of newprint to this article is not a srevice to the readers. The front page had 88 sq. in. used and there are other news stories, local and national the impact our lives. We need a "newspaper" not a "tabloid". Enough 3 legged ducks and fuzzy wuzzy stories. Also it would help if the articles were proof-read.

  • Not being a native my only recollection of this show (from documentaries) is when it's live broadcast was interrupted by Walter Cronkite when JFK was assassinated.
