Victoria soldier found dead at his Fort Hood home

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death of U.S. Army Master Sgt. Baldemar Gonzales, 39, of Victoria. The soldier was found dead on base at his Fort Hood home on Sept. 25, but information surrounding his death could not be released.
"It's still under investigation," Media Relations Officer Tyler Broadway, said.
Gonzales, a decorated soldier many times over, joined the Army in 1990, and served in Operation Desert Storm from 1990 to 1991, then with Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004.
Gonzales primarily worked as an air defense system crewman and later as an artilleryman with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Warrior Transition Brigade, Carl R. Darnall Medical Center, Fort Hood in September.
