Portions of three streets will be closed beginning Monday because of on-going construction projects.

DeLeon Street

Beginning Monday, DeLeon Street will be reduced to one-lane northbound only between Forrest Street and Goodwin Avenue for the construction of a water line. The project is expected to take one week, weather permitting.

Liberty Street

Beginning on Monday, Liberty Street will be reduced to one-lane southbound only between Constitution and Santa Rosa streets for the construction of a water line. The project is expected to take one week, weather permitting.

The two downtown closures are part of the $2,599,428 Downtown Water and Sewer Line Replacements (Ph I - Projects 5 & 6). The contractor is SER Construction Partners, of Pasadena.

Drivers can expect delays in the work zone and should use alternate routes to access businesses and parking lots. On-street parking will be prohibited in the work zone.

Red River Street

Beginning on Tuesday, Red River Street will be closed to through traffic between Ben Wilson and Catalpa streets for waterline and sewer line construction. Construction is expected to take about six weeks, weather permitting.

Access to Red River Street is available via Del Papa Street, Catalpa Street, Cherry Street and Sam Houston Drive. All businesses and parking lots in the work zone will remain accessible via alternate routes.

The city and contractor are working to reduce public inconvenience, but drivers may experience delays in this area. Alternate routes are suggested when possible.

This construction is part of the $2,149,467.00 Red River Street Sanitary Sewer and Rehabilitation/Overlay Project (Sam Houston Drive to Ben Jordan Street). The contractor is Lester Contracting of Port Lavaca.

For more information on any of these projects contact the Public Works/Engineering Department at 361-485-3340.
