• We too are affected, and we are beyond livid. So many people depend upon our refunds to help offset costs during the spring on differing items that need paid off, etc. It's too bad that the IRS intends on making everyone comply when it comes time to file and/or pay in. But heaven forbid taxpayers call in to find out what's going on and WHY we have to wait because of THEIR screwups. It's a damn god-damn shame......

We'll get by, but barely, as others have said. I feel for that family too. Here are two links that I found myself by browsing online in search and desperation for an answer by the IRS. Maybe this will help ease some fears from all of you? I highly doubt it, as at this point in time, I believe NOTHING the IRS or Federal Government can tell me anymore. And we're MILITARY TOO. My husband's putting his life on the line everyday, and this is how we're treated by our government. Damn sorry shame......

The first link is for "taxpayers" like us individuals:

The second link is supposed to be for TAX Pros to give taxpayers "generic answers" in response to our phone calls when we call in.... NICE!!! Notice- they all have a "generic response" that they are supposed to tell anyone whom calls in. The one that pertains to the FTHB Tax Credit is at the bottom of the page.....

Needless to say, I'm livid and don't believe ANYTHING that I hear anymore. My husband was told TODAY (he called in this afternoon- again, shaking his head) that it could take another 6-8 weeks from the date of March 31st, 2011, because folks returns were being processed MANUALLY now. They've resorted to accept that the glitch is IR-REPAIRABLE, and everyone must now file manually anyways, no matter what the circumstance- only if you are affected by the Form 5405. NICE!!!!! THANKS UNCLE SAM!!!!!!!

  • I am waiting for my refund. I see it as sad when a Tax cheat can be Sec of Teasury, but someone who work in a sorry, disrespected job has to wait. A damn shame.

  • We too are waiting for our refund due to this problem. We filed our taxes on January 28 expecting to have our check within a couple of weeks. I call the IRS every week to check on the status of our refund and can never get the same answer on when we will receive it. The latest I was told was that people would start receiving there money on April 5th or April 12th, but I don't believe them.

  • Maybe the Hamilton's should start sending the IRS invoices for outrageous penalties and late payment fees. Funny how you as an individual are screwed if your one day late paying the IRS but they can string you along for months when they owe you.
