In Good Company
Lou Ellen Callarman recently was named the February Employee of the Month at the University of Houston-Victoria. She is a library associate in the UHV/ Victoria College Library and has worked at UHV since February 2005. Callarman received a framed certificate and a $50 gift card.
Karen Barnett, registered nurse with Hospice of South Texas, was recently named Employee of the Month for February. This award honors employees who perform their duties at an outstanding level of service.
Jennifer Opiela is the new Web projects manager at the University of Houston-Victoria. Opiela maintains the content management system for the university's websites and assists departments with their Web page changes and updates. Before coming to UHV, she worked as an applications developer for the city of Victoria.
Mark Ward Sr., assistant professor of communication at the University of Houston-Victoria, made two research presentations at the Southern States Communication Association Annual Convention from March 23-27 in Little Rock, Ark. Ward's paper was on, "Fruit that May Abound to Your Account: An Analysis of Fundamentalist Christian Fundraising Communications as a Case for Applying Cognitive Dissonance Theory to Donor Relations" and participated on a panel, "From Aristotle to Cyberspace: Best Practices in Online Delivery of the Basic Course."
