A fire in the kitchen of a home off U.S. Business 77 was extinguished Saturday afternoon before the blaze spread.
The fire occurred at 1:15 p.m. to a house in the 100 block of Reoh Road. A woman in the house got out in time, said Battalion Chief Tracy Fox, who did not have the age or name of the woman.
The woman was not injured, and fire damage was limited to the kitchen, he said. The rest of the home sustained some smoke damage.
The Victoria Fire Department, Victoria County Sheriff's Office, Quail Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Raisin Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes, Fox said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but it did originate in the kitchen, Fox said.
