  • STOP complaining! If you don't like the Suddenlink service then vote with your money! Suddenlink is not the only game in town. You can get local channels with simple rabbit ears and internet services from Internet America and your TV signal from DirecTv or DishNetwork and your phone service from At&t. So cut Suddenlink services and get better service from the other competition. That will send a message. Otherwise Suddenlink will treat you the same as they always have, like their service, CRAP!

  • I am so frustrated with Suddenlink!!! My internet was out all morning My cable cuts out every 2-3 minutes and then when it does show its fuzzy....I call and they only give me credit for the internet being out not for the cable. Im seriously thinking of switching my cable service. By the way I think its funny that Suddenlink has someone commenting on here that "Suddenlink rules. and they are the best providers" they should be more worried about fixing their crappy service!!

    April 23, 2011 at 12:08 p.m.
  • Why don't we have a choice of cable services like they do in other cities and states??? Time Warner, Bright House, or others may bring competitive prices to our area.

    April 22, 2011 at 6:52 a.m.
  • I wonder if Suddenlink uses the same PR firm that BP used to help inform the public on how great they are and they feel sorry for the "little people".

  • by we i do mean customers in the area

    April 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m.
  • suddenlinks equipment in this area is state of the art since we just went thru a digital conversion. new equipment doesnt just quite...especially for how sophisticated and expensive as it is

    April 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m.
  • ill tell you tho, if the city council also approves who provides electrical svc to an area they may want to look at that too. everyone is at the mercy of the power company and if they are resposible for the reason suddenlink's equipment has gone bad, that might be the bigger issue

  • Best providers out there..Dish and Direct Tv always go out idk wat ya are talking about..i used to have Dish and it goes off everytime alittle clouds covers it..Suddenlink has the best cable, internet, nd phone out there and for good prizes..

    April 21, 2011 at 2:18 p.m.
  • SUDDENLINK RULES!..they are the best out there!

    April 21, 2011 at 2:15 p.m.
  • One word: (no, not plastics!)

    SATELLITE!!!!!!!

    April 21, 2011 at 7:28 a.m.
  • I think it is seriously who you talk to, like a lot of call centers. I have spoken to a couple sticks in the mud. Catch this...in recent suddenlink news, they have upgraded the internet download speeds for internet to 50mbs for 10 N Texas communities. Just announced during all this mess here. Tells you where sudden unlinkds priorities are.

    April 20, 2011 at 9:08 p.m.
  • I was affected by a short outage yesterday... During that outage, I called them and also brought up the Victoria, TX issues. The support told me a line was cut at the headend and that was the issue. The person also questioned the issues as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH9kib... has the call recording.

    April 20, 2011 at 5:57 p.m.
  • vox, waywardwind, jlord or whatever.... yeah, yall are right, you SHOULD get what you pay for. my brain isnt functioning properly right now. i lost my hubby unexpectedly a week ago, and at this point everything else seems so trivial to me. i would give up cable, phone, and internet for the rest of my life to have just one more day with him. so, sorry, but thats where i was coming from. and no, i dont complain about politics or much else, i just try to be responsible with my own actions, and try to make small differences by helping anyone i can within my immediate reach. change comes from within, and i have found that in most situations, there is usually something i can change from within to better my own experience, including seeing things from a different perspective... but thats just me. btw... if i could, i would come to your house and fix your cable for you !

    April 20, 2011 at 5:51 p.m.
  • They gave me 2 days credit and said it was because it is only temporary outages. the lady also said they were upgrading the system. Love it when they just lie to you over the phone.

    April 20, 2011 at 4:50 p.m.
  • I would like to add that they charged me $9.95 for 'video self install'. Meaning that I got charged almost $10 to hook up the DVR myself.

Dropping them like a bad habit as soon as I decide between Dish and Direct TV

    April 20, 2011 at 4:24 p.m.
  • I agree with most all of thse who are frustrated. It is aggrivating to pay over $100.00 a month for crap service. I would love a rebate or a discount on my service since I only get to see half of what I want to watch. I want to see what the CEO would say if I came to his house and turned off his television right in the middle of his favorite program. Get it together suddenlink!

    April 20, 2011 at 4:21 p.m.
  • Not getting certain channels is one thing, but getting frozen screens and basically screens that look just like the photo the Advocate shows is another. I taped a show to see later and big surprise, there was about 10-15 minures of show and the rest of the hour was a frozen screen. That is not simply less choices - that is bad service.

    April 20, 2011 at 4 p.m.
  • Marie, Thanks, I did call that number. They are the ones that told me that they do notissue credi for outages and that is what the issue here is being called - an outage, Maybe it is who you tlak to that makes a difference, but I personally do not like paying for services that we are not getting.

    April 20, 2011 at 3:57 p.m.
  • Much of Victoria can't get AT&T. I got rid of Suddenstink a year ago and went to Dish Network. Get all HD channels at fraction of the cost I had to pay for cable with only three or four HD channels.
Poor service. Poor product. High prices.
    This is how monopolies survive.

    April 20, 2011 at 3:50 p.m.
  • @ formersting try calling the 1 800 # on thats listed on victoria advocate...I think that they should credit people because we pay for our service to be good not crappy...and I heard of other people being credited too

    April 20, 2011 at 3:17 p.m.
  • How is this even acceptable? I don't live in Victoria but I notice all my Victoria friends complaining about Suddenlink on facebook. When you have all your friends from Vic complaining about it you know something is wrong. I would cancel my service.

    I have AT&T Uverse and I love it :)

    April 20, 2011 at 3:14 p.m.
  • I agree with coastal chick their service stinks! My husband was watching the History channel and it went out for about 15 minutes...so i got on the phone and called Suddenlink and they gave me a weeks worth of credit which was $23.57 its not much but its something if this continues to go on I will be calling them back...I would advise everyone else to call and complain.

    April 20, 2011 at 3:12 p.m.
  • They should invest more money and time fixing thier crappy cable service than on the near constant stream of TV commercials bragging on how good they are.
    ^This X1000

I have experienced this. I wonder if Suddenlink would mine me paying my bill intermittently?
No, I tried this and they billed me for the remainder and a late fee, can we say RUDE!

    3. Why do charges continue to rise and service is getting worse?
Our internet (the only suddenlink service I still pay for) has been going in and out for the past few days. Thank God I got my phone through someone else so I can call and COMPLAIN!!!

Weatherscan is now channel 137 for those privileged enough to have it. You should have received a notice in the mail so you could UPGRADE your service (HAHAHA)....I called suddenlink corporate about a month ago and told them of the 5!! Boxes that i had had only 1 of them worked properly. and it was on its last leg. All of their equipment had been pre-used garbage. Honestly Suddenlink if there was another option for internet usage; I would have already switched!

    April 20, 2011 at 3:12 p.m.
  • I called suddenlink. this problem in victoria is considered and outage and they do not give credit for outages. I asked what their defination of an outage is and they said: "when 10 or more people experience problems with service". i don't know about anyone else but to me an outage means just that - something is out - kaput - nothing. So bacisally, we have to pay our bills for service; but we do not have to get the service we are paying for. Does anyone else want to call in and complain to the top guys? here is the info: Jerry Kent CEO, 314-315-9387 Suddenlink Corporate offices.

    April 20, 2011 at 3:11 p.m.
  • As I'm reading this article my cable freezes up. At this point its only been about 10 minutes but who knows how long it will be frozen.
I'm of the opinion that if I'm spending my hard earned money on a product then I should get what I pay for! Suddenlink, your service stinks! We have had service with Suddenlink for years and have had more problems with it in the past year then ever before. Its frustrating! Poor cable/internet service, rude customer service, and skyrocketing prices are making me look else where.
    Suddenlink, you're connected......sometimes.

    April 20, 2011 at 2:49 p.m.
  • This has been going on for several days - we have missed huge chunks of several episodes and it is becoming very annoying. Let's hope these comments are delivered to SuddenLink so that they may give us credit for lost cable service for all these past 15-20 days.

    April 20, 2011 at 2:26 p.m.
  • I thought it was just me, but I guess all of Victoria is having problems. My cable has been going out for hours at a time, and this has been going on for several days, and getting worse. This weekend, all I had was sound - no picture at all.

    April 20, 2011 at 1:34 p.m.
  • @ username, if you like being ripped off, then I have an igloo to sell you right now...I promise it will not melt outside. It is called getting what you pay for. Frankly, I rather be able to watch the basketball playoffs without a picture of Lebron James stuck in mid-air for 20 minutes. If you do not speak up, you will be walked over. I take it you do not say anything about politicians as well?

    April 20, 2011 at 10:26 a.m.
  • @Scarlett, if you want to switch to dish, Dish Network has our local channels (unlike Direct TV). I have been doing a lot of research since all of this mess started. Also it will have CBS in HD out of Houston. I agree, we should not be having to call in regarding this to get credit. They should be giving all of the city subscribers credit for the month or however long this takes without us calling. When I talked to suddenlink about credit a couple days ago, they just laughed. Of course that was then and this is now, so we will see.

    April 20, 2011 at 10:22 a.m.
  • A friend of mine just spoke with Suddenlink. Credits are being given for your monthly bill from what she told me. You must call in order to get a credit. I can't get through though. What a coincidence?

    April 20, 2011 at 10:08 a.m.
  • I work a lot so when I come home to unwind, I like to watch the shows that I dvr'd. Yesterday, I was watching one such movie. Got 1 hour into it and blam- stupid cable was stuck. Ended up not being able to see the rest of it. Hate when that happens. I noticed my bill was 30.00 higher this month, wonder if they are charging us for the maintenance to fix the problem. I am a very active person so I use the cable to unwind. Before anyone says anything about taking the time to go outside and smell the roses, I watch a lot of educational shows on History Channel and Discovery Channel so I am not wasting my mind. All of Victoria should be getting a credit this month. I agree with everyone else, if you want me to pay this much money for service, then you better provide that service. The only reason I don't switch to DirectTV is because I like having the local channels.

    April 20, 2011 at 8:34 a.m.
  • I let myself be talked into "bundling" my landline with cable/internet service a couple of months ago. Didn't realize that sometimes when the cable is bad, like Monday night during the Barbara Walter's special, the telephone was also breaking up just like the TV!! That way you can't call to complain!LOL Maybe a bad decision.

  • For you military members (vet43) stationed overseas, remember, "AFRTN: American Forces Radio and Television Network"...we could ONLY SEE ONE CHANNEL...and we were happy as ...
@username, again, it's about the service you pay for...I'm sure no one here is in front of their TV 24 hrs a day, but then again I could be wrong.
When I turn the TV on, I want to see it "clear" and with no problems...just like when I send my check in and it "clears" with no problems...

    April 20, 2011 at 8:10 a.m.
  • username...It's about the service we pay for. I only watch two television programs a week. Bones on Thursday night and the NASCAR race on the weekend. This past Sunday, the Talledaga race was interrupted several time. You call it crying. I call it poor service. I don't see the company rebating the money we pay when the service goes to pot. How I spend my spare time really is MY business and if I want to bellyache about the service of Suddenlink getting bad, I will.

    April 20, 2011 at 7:32 a.m.
  • username,

It has less to do with not being able to watch TV and more to do with bills that keep going up while quality declines.

If you are renting an apartment and the plumbing gets screwed up for a few weeks are you happy with just going outside and using the water hose to wash dishes and take a bath? Didn't think so.

    April 20, 2011 at 7:11 a.m.
  • yes, its annoying, (mine is stuck right now) but is it such a big deal? seriously? why not use this opportunity to write a letter, read a book, or take a walk? remember those things? its all about perceptive, people. get a life already. there are newborn babies with colic that dont cry this much! waaaaaahhh

    April 20, 2011 at 6:29 a.m.
  • Come on Suddenlink, If you've got a problem just spray some 'left-over "easy" on it.'

Are you planning to reduce the bill this month, since you are offering reduced service? Who ever you paid the $250 million for 'up-grading' your service owes you a refund!

    April 20, 2011 at 6:12 a.m.
  • You know cable is not cheap. Lately I have not been able to watch a single program without signal failure. I hope they plan to adjust the monthly charge. This has been going on for several weeks, enough already!

    April 20, 2011 at 6:10 a.m.
  • I liked that Suddenstink sent a supposed Customer Service Rep around (with a trainee) to tell me my service sucks.

Even funnier was the fact that he was screwing with his Blackberry while talking to me. When I invited him to step away and have fun with his phone, even the trainee realized that he had screwed up.

Apparently this "Trainer" was studying my Suddenstink service on his Blackberry while insincerely cutting his eyes to it while interupting my supper. Next time, try looking up the information BEFORE ringing my doorbell, Genius.

    April 20, 2011 at 6:07 a.m.
  • Dish Network and DirecTV are really looking good about now. I have been a customer of Dish Network with no problems in the past 4 years. Customer Service is great and polite. Try them out, you will like the service better than SuddenLink cable. The only disadvantage is that DishNetwork does not carry internet service.
Is the problem with Suddenlink cable affecting the internet hookups also? I can not live without my TV and internet. What would life be like now days without such services? 1956 maybe!lol

    April 20, 2011 at 3:59 a.m.
  • Weatherscan ch 137.

    April 20, 2011 at 3:08 a.m.
  • My great-grandkid ask me how do we fix the TV Grandpa? I said get a book. Maybe Suddenlink is working for a printing company because they sure are not working for the customer. I don't mind TV not being on all the time. I really hate paying for it all the time and getting it sometime. Call the billing office and see if there is a rate for cut-rate-cable.

    April 19, 2011 at 11:53 p.m.
  • hey but you're connected with suddenlink!

    April 19, 2011 at 11:14 p.m.
  • Have to agree with fatguy. I also have a few comments to make:
    1. You have too many LOUD commercials. They take up more time than the actual program. I forget what I am watching by the time the SAME LOUD commercials are shown, night after night after night.
    2. I am tired of listening to your CEO brag about their $250 Million investment. And this is WHEN my TV is working.
    3. Why do charges continue to rise and service is getting worse?
    4. Why don't you have better package deals? I am paying for so many stations that I could care less about.

    April 19, 2011 at 11:07 p.m.
  • This could be a great opportunity for family game night or going out for a walk! I must say, I'm even temped to turn off the cell phone for a little while...

    April 19, 2011 at 10:39 p.m.
  • anyone else having issues with a 'crackling' sound ?

    April 19, 2011 at 9:52 p.m.
  • Their raising the prices on their services are always nice and clear...
During the day not so bad, it's during the afternoon and night most affected.

    April 19, 2011 at 9:29 p.m.
  • I have experienced this. I wonder if Suddenlink would mine me paying my bill intermittently?

    April 19, 2011 at 9:16 p.m.
  • Cable has been terrible lately. Glad to know it isn't just me. Thank God it's not college football season. LOL

    April 19, 2011 at 8:43 p.m.
  • So its not just me then.

They should invest more money and time fixing thier crappy cable service than on the near constant stream of TV commercials bragging on how good they are.
