Matt Smith and his girlfriend Kerrybeth Hall planned to attend Sul Ross State University together.
They were en route to Alpine when they were killed in a one-truck rollover near Fort Stockton on Monday night.
"She was going to stay with her sister Krystal," said Kerrybeth's sister, Kassie Wilkinson, 21, of Hallettsville.
Kerrybeth, 18, graduated from Hope High School in May.
Matthew, 21, was a 2008 graduate of Calhoun High School and was enrolled to begin this fall at Sul Ross State University.
The families of the students will have separate funerals.
After Kerrybeth's 10 a.m. Friday funeral, her family will host a pot-luck luncheon at Grace Funeral Home in Port Lavaca.
"Everyone is welcome," Wilkinson said. "They can bring whatever they would like or just come and visit.
Friends said Matthew loved to hunt and fish.
He was also remembered as an outgoing person who loved to help people.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca. A visitation will be 6- 8 p.m. Thursday at the Richardson - Colonial Funeral Home.
