New details released about unidentified body in Goliad

More details were released Friday about the man found dead in rural Goliad on Thursday afternoon.

After a preliminary autopsy, the body has been identified as a Hispanic man, said Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby. He appeared to be between 45 and 55 years old.

About noon, the man, who was partially clothed, was found lying about 30 feet from the edge of Lemke Road.

Because there were no signs of trauma, authorities suspect his death was heat-related.

The billfold found with the man, who is thought to possibly be an illegal immigrant, lacked identification, but it did contain several business cards with numbers that appear to be from south of the border, said Brumby.

The man's identity and exact cause of death remain under investigation, he said.
