Two teens arrested for robbing man of cell phone

Two teenagers are in the Victoria County Jail after being accused of stealing a cell phone from a couple overnight then fleeing from police.
Luz Albert Hernandez, 17, and Frank Conteras, 18, of Victoria, are charged with robbery and evading detention after the incident about 10:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of the Port Lavaca Highway, according to the Victoria Police Department report.
Hernandez is also charged with failure to identify himself.
The two teens were walking along the railroad tracks, as were the victims, a couple who knew one of those arrested from high school.
The male was assaulted and the cell phone and a lighter were taken. The girl went to a nearby convenience store and called police.
The assault victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
The two teens were caught after a foot chase of about a block, according to the report, near the 100 block of South Ben Jordan.
Bond is set at $50 for each of them.
