100 Club of Matagorda County to host 34th annual Law enforcement dinner

Annual dinner will honor law enforcement in county

Our peace officers need the support of the responsible segment of our community. So starts the introduction in the 100 Club of Matagorda County’s brochure.

The 100 Club of Matagorda County will host the 34th Annual Law Enforcement Awards Dinner on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Eagles Hall (North Highway 60) in Bay City at 6:30 p.m. The Annual Awards Dinner provides an opportunity for the community to show support for our Peace Officers. Serving starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Awards presentations. All law enforcement officers and officials and their families are special guests and members and families of the 100 Club and the general public are all invited. There is no charge.

Support for Matagorda County Law Enforcement Officers is the whole point of the 100 Club. In addition to the Dinner, the 100 Club has established a trust fund to aid families of officers lost in the line of duty. The membership dues and interest from trust fund investments are dedicated for this fund. The Awards Dinner and the purchase of life-saving equipment are paid for from fund raising activities and many “Friends of the 100 Club” who make annual donations.

The individual outstanding officers from Matagorda County Law Enforcement Departments are selected each year by their peers through secret balloting. A cash awards of two hundred ($200.00) dollars and a plaque will be made to each outstanding officer during the Awards Dinner. Also the 100 Club of Matagorda County will provide six (6) door prizes of one hundred ($100.00) each to the Law Enforcement Officers and employees of each agency.

Corporate sponsors will support the Dinner again this year and will be acknowledged at the Awards Dinner with Certificates of Appreciation from the 100 Club and they will also be acknowledged in all Matagorda County media following the Awards Dinner.
