Drowning Pool and Echoes The Fall met on the MTV program Headbangers Ball a few years ago.

On Tuesday, the two bands will reunite at the Riverside Multiplex in Victoria for a concert.

Mitch Gables, from Echoes the Fall, plans to give the Crossroads his all.

"We want to sound like the CD, if not better," said the drummer.

Gables described his band as a mix between hard rock and new metal. The independent group consists of Gable and his brother, Michael Gable, Jeromy Moorehead, Trevor Keeling, and Myles Bynum.

This will be the Phoenix-based group's first trip to Victoria.

Gables said he's been a fan of Drowning Pool for years and it's an honor to play with them.

Drowning Pool has played everywhere but the North Pole, member Stevie Benton said.

For the last few years, the Farmersville-based group has played in USO shows. He has a special connection to troops because his father served in Vietnam.

"We try to give them a little bit of home in the form of a big rock show," he said.

Benton and fellow bandmates C.J. Pierce, Mike Luce, and Ryan McCombs try to have some complimentary tickets set aside for men and women of service.

This will be Benton's second time in Victoria. But, one of his biggest supporters will not be by his side. His father, Steve Benton, died suddenly last month.

The grieving son said it's been difficult, but staying busy has helped him to cope with the death.

The Drowning Pool enjoys getting a reaction out of the crowd. He said the band plays a mix of heavy metal, rock and jazz fusion.

Benton said his small hometown has about 2,500 people, but he's performed in crowds as large as 90,000.

The Riverside Multiplex has a 2,000-person capacity.

First-timer Mitch Gables doesn't know what to expect in his Crossroads area visit. But he plans to bring his A-game. "We gotta bring the intensity, whether its two or 2,000 people," he said.
