  • Seems like it was about a year ago that Brown Pelicans rescued from the Gulf Oil Spill were being released at Austwell.

When you think about the amount of $$$$ spent to conserve these birds the amount of potential fines for destroying them seems trivial.

  • I am near tears at the inhumane thinking of this greedy - - person. I have noticed a drastic reduction in numbers of the brown pelicans in Port Lavaca. The possible punishment is not enough!

  • Some people think they can do anything and get away with it. Who cares about our kid's future let's destroy every thing now for a dollar. This type of narcissism attitude should be dealt with more severely than 6 months in jail.

  • They were killed by flying into power lines??? 120 carcasses???

This reminds me of a joke...

A game warden driving down the beach sees a man shooting seagulls with a .22 rifle, so he turns his lights on and approaches the man, telling him that it's illegal to shoot seagulls. "Well, I'm poor and this is how I feed my family.", the man responded. So the game warden, feeling sorry for the man, tells him that he can keep what he has but not to shoot any more gulls. "What does a seagull taste like anyway?", asks the warden. The man ponders, then responds "Something between a Bald Eagle and a Whooping Crane!"
