As the start of the school year draws closer and closer, it's about more than kids, parents and teachers keeping busy with preparations. Crossroads retailers are gearing up for a busy season, too.

Texas' Tax-free weekend is Friday through Sunday, giving residents of the Lone Star State a chance to stock up on clothing and school supplies without the burden of that 8-percent sales tax.

But what items are tax-free, and what's the best way to tackle the weekend? Here's a helpful guide:
