Editor, the Advocate:

Quote or misquote? Page A3, Victoria Advocate (Aug. 15) - AP Waterloo, Iowa, Gov. Perry, in part "if we don't have a president that doesn't get this country working we're in trouble." I do not understand why anyone would require a president to not get this country working.

If this is not a misquote, I do not understand why we would elect a president who does not understand the basic concept of a double negative. Surely, Gov. Perry meant to say, "We need a president who will get this country working." As a working man, I hope this is the case.

  • Surely you can come up with something better than a double negative as a reason not to vote for Rick Perry. I want my taxes reduced....don't care how anyone slaughters the English Language while he does it.
