Spending about $500,000 to repair a $7,000,000 building just doesn't make sense to an institution that can take whatever it wants from the taxpayer. The next thing we will hear is Memorial stadium needs to be torn down and a new dome stadium build in its place. Those old open air things are so dated and out of style. After all, all they need to do is take the money from the taxpayer.
I don't understand the ends and outs of the decision to remove this 45 year old "nice" auditorium other than it costs too much to maintain and it is not needed as much as it once was.
My house was not built with the great money saving things that homes are built with today, and since the kids are all grown and gone it is not used as much as it once was, but the last thing I would want to do is demolish it and build a new one. What a waste of money that would be. Overseas there are buildings that are older than our country that are being used and have a lot of years left.
Is VC going to build a new auditorium in the old location or make use of the property for a much more needed building or parking?
