The special meeting offered the second public hearing on VC's 2011 property tax rate.
The board has proposed maintaining last year's tax rate of $1.32 per $100 valuation. With a 2 percent increase in property values, taxes on an average home - the appraisal values of which rose from $115,995 to $117,109 - will increase by $14.73.
The board will adopt the tax rate on Sept. 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Corporate Meeting Room, Academic Building Room 101, 2200 E. Red River St.
In a special meeting Monday, the Victoria College Board of Trustees extended President Tom Butler's contract for another year.
The unanimous vote was part of Butler's annual evaluation, which the board performed during about an hour-long executive session.
The yearly vote will keep his original three-year contract in tact.
The board expressed their thanks to Butler, who has been with VC since 2008, before getting some good news from the latest enrollment numbers.
Patricia Vandervoort, vice president of instruction, told the board this year's preliminary numbers show an increase from 4,413 students last year to 4,609 this year. That's a 4.4 percent increase.
The number of contact hours students are receiving are up 2.8 percent.
Official enrollment numbers will be reported Sept. 7.
