Annual Sacred Heart Parish fall picnic Sunday

The annual Sacred Heart Parish Fall Picnic, which started 129 years ago, is scheduled for Sunday in Hallettsville.

The popular country fried chicken, stew and cornbread dressing dinner will be available for $7.50. Children's plates are $4.

The meal will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 321 U.S. Highway 77 S. Drive-through plates to go will be available until 1 p.m.

Advance tickets for the drive-through meal are available at the Sacred Heart rectory, Hoffer's Drive-In and Morton's Drive-In.

A 1 p.m. auction will feature antiques, cattle, handmade quilts, arts and crafts and many other items.

Other activities of the day include children's rides and games, bingo from noon to 6 p.m., a cake walk, country store, game booth and a religious articles booth.

There will also be a washer pitching tournament at 5 p.m. and a "parrot plop."

Concessions will also be available throughout the day.

An open air biergarten will include polka and country-western music with the Kovanda Czech Band from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Red Ravens and Dujka Brothers from 1 to 9 p.m. There is no admission charge.
