A mother and son from Corpus Christi were arrested Monday night following a traffic stop that netted more than 106 pounds of marijuana.
About 8:30 p.m., a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was headed north on U.S. Highway 59 near Telferner when a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped it for two traffic violations, said DPS spokesman Trooper Gerald Bryant.
During the interview with the occupants, Hope Gonzalez, 38, and Oscar Gonzalez, 19, the trooper noticed indicators of criminal activity and received verbal consent to search the vehicle, said Bryant.
Found hidden in the gas tank were 35 bundles of marijuana weighing 106.6 pounds. The street value was about $60,000, Bryant said.
Both were charged with second degree felony possession of marijuana and are in the Victoria County Jail on $50,000 bond each.
