You think that there's nothing to do on New Year's Eve around here? Well, baby, you are so wrong. Here's just three things all the cool kids will be doing:

Cactus Canyon will host its annual adult party for the New Year's Eve bash "Party 'Round the World!"

The DJ will play country music with a mix of rock and hip-hop.

To help party-goers celebrate, the club will have several TVs set to a computerized clock with the countdown.

"We're going to have a balloon drop, confetti, everything associated with New Year's Eve," said Manager Jeremy Roell.

For the past 30 years, Skate World has offered a New Year's Eve lock-in.

"We provide a place for kids to go," said Raymond Garza, the general manager.

Garza said the activity is geared toward pre-teens and teenagers.

Every 30 minutes, there will be activities like races, dance contests, and games to keep children entertained. A balloon drop is scheduled at midnight.

Those who attend must be picked up by a parent for safety reasons.

The $12 cover charge includes access to the skating rink and skate rental. Snacks are sold separately.

"We want the kids to have a good time," Garza said.

For those who want to test their vocal abilities and celebrate with their children, they can go to Port Lavaca. Texas Traditions Cafe and Bakery will host Karaoke in the New Year with Casey Leeann, a country music artist.

Restaurant owner Vic Franek said he and his four sons would sing for fun.

"We wouldn't let my wife sing, she was terrible," he said jokingly of his wife, Patricia Franek.

His establishment gives customers a chance to join in the fun. Franek said more than 1,000 songs are available to choose from.

A full menu will be available for ordering. Wine, beer, and margaritas will also be available. To commemorate the new year, patrons will also receive party favors.
